Every year, there’s a photography contest that I love to participate in called Shoot & Share. It’s a free contest from all over the globe. You don’t need to be a professional photographer to enter and everyone is welcome to vote. Voting for my favorite photos definitely consumes my day!
My Top 3 Photos
First Year Results
My first year entering was several years ago in 2017 and the very best I did was two Finalist images. Finalist images mean you made it to the final round and are in the top 500 of that category (I believe). After that, 2018 only had one Finalist and none in 2019. From those three years, I had many photos place in the top ten, twenty, and thirty percent. Which is still good, I suppose.
In 2020 and 2021, there was a lot of drama surrounding the Shoot & Share contest. And I mean A LOT of drama. I just wanted to do the contest so badly and have others see what I was creating. The contest is a huge source of inspiration and it was desperately needed for me. There was no contest in 2021 so I knew 2022 was going to be good.
I entered 50 photos into various categories: babies, families, couples, joy.
My results were the best I’ve ever done. I’m proud of my work and how far I’ve come.
2022 Shoot & Share Results
I had three photos finish in the Top 100 for their categories, ten Finalist images, six in the Top 10%, nine in the Top 20%, and five in the Top 30%. Like, what? Three in the Top 100? Some of the stats are just crazy. In one category there was almost 10,000 photos entered and I placed in the Top 100. TEN THOUSAND, guys!
I was able to spot numerous photographer’s work throughout the entire contest. I would try to take a screen shot and send it to them, letting them know their photo is still alive and well in the contest. A photographer, local to Colorado, will be doing my headshots next week. She was actually the Grand Prize Winner in the contest. I’m going to have the best photos ever- I just know it!
These photos have been shared all over my Instagram over the course of this past year, so It was so awesome going back through and reliving all of those sessions. The chances are very likely that I will submit photos from this summer and fall for next year’s contest. Make sure to book a session so your photos have a chance!
Take a peek to see if your photos were any that placed as a Finalist or Top 100!
