Senior photos are meant to be fun rather than stressful, and that includes shopping for your wardrobe. The actual session is the MOST fun, but I think shopping is pretty dang close. There are no rules for what guys should wear, but these tips will help you have a successful session.
When shopping for a guy senior session, try to keep these top tips in mind!
No Logos.
We all love to show off our name brand clothes, our favorite team, or a funny graphic tee, right? But not for senior photos. You want your senior photos to be timeless. I would hate for you to look at your senior photos in twenty years and say, “What was I thinking? That brand doesn’t even exist anymore!”
Khakis and Denim.
I love when senior guys take my suggestion of mixing up bottoms rather than just wearing jeans the entire time. Adding a pair of chino pants in the mix of your photos will definitely add the variety that you need. Chino pants with a button up shirt-yes!
Prints and Solids
I love using both of these. I don’t think you can ever go wrong with just a solid Henley especially paired with jeans. The printed and patterned shirts look amazing with the chino pants. I don’t love relying on plaid for the pattern because there are so many other amazing ones out there! Some shirts even have baby avocados on them, haha. I don’t think that would go over well for senior portraits, but don’t get sucked into thinking patterns mean plaid- it doesn’t!
Athletic Wear
This is NOT the time to get into your football shoulder pads, but it can definitely be the time to wear your favorite jersey. It’s incredibly popular to bring a letterman’s jacket to your session along with a prop that correlates with lettering.
Shoes.
Please. Please get some nice shoes. Some nice camel colored shoes or even some new white vans will complete your outfit. Ain’t nobody wanna see dirty and/or neon sneakers with your jaw dropping chino pants and patterned shirt. There. I said it.
Now you know what guys should wear for a senior session, so let’s get yours booked!
