When seniors need an amazing location for their yearbook photos, I always suggest doing their senior photos at South Mesa Trailhead located in Boulder. It really does have everything from tall grasses, mountain views, a little bit of water, an epic bridge, and a piece of cool architecture.
The first leg of our session is usually spent against a nice wooden fence, a gravel path, and billowing trees. You might think it seems too simple, but so many great photos come from this simple space.

Next, we will make our way to one of the most popular bridges used for photos. I love shooting with the water in some shots, and the mountains in others. This old, rustic wooden bridge has made some of my most memorable senior photos at South Mesa Trailhead over the years. It just never disappoints! It’s so popular that there are sometimes lines of photographers waiting to use it!
Shortly after the bridge are some cool little steps made out of boulders and gravel. This is where I do a lot of close up shots!

Around the corner is my most favorite fallen tree to ever exist. It works wonders for so many poses for senior photos, especially for girls. It works year round, too. Being able to lay on it, lean against it, sit with your back to it, and just play with the leaves in front of it all make for amazing shots.

Shooting with the mountain valley behind you at South Mesa is always a view that seniors ask for. Not a problem! The views are always stunning-especially when the sun is just setting! Wow! If you schedule your session in the fall, there’s nothing comparable to this view. Being able to photograph incredible bright reds, against a setting sun and purple mountains will guarantee a top contender for your yearbook photo.
