It happens all of the time. Moms are often the ones taking the photos. The photos with dad, the holiday photos, the milestone photos, and everything cute in between. But where are the moms? Let’s make it a goal to be better about being IN the photos this year. It’s awkward having to ask someone, “can you take a picture of me?” because they probably think, “gosh, she must think a lot of herself.”

It shouldn’t be that way. It should be a two way street with the camera- behind the lens and in front.

Studios For Mommy and Me Photos in Denver

I love offering studio mini sessions throughout the year for these exact sessions. Sometimes they’re styled studios that have really neat flowers, fun furniture, and neat props. But most often, it’s just a simple white backdrop and all of the focus is on you and your child(ren). It’s literally just a time that is so simple, so relaxed, and so perfect that moms continually book them every year.

No special wardrobe planning needs to go into these studio sessions. A simple light denim  with white t-shirts are perfect! I’ve seen several moms and daughters wear matching dresses and even matching pajamas.

I usually do these at my home studio in Thornton, or at a studio downtown with a plain white backdrop.

Outdoor Sessions for Mommy and Me Photos in Denver

There’s no right or wrong time to book outdoor mommy and me sessions, so you’re in luck. Throughout the year, there are amazing opportunities to do them especially when the spring flowers are blooming, and the fall colors are changing. But don’t just wait for those two times! I love taking a mom and her child(ren) down by the river in the summer to grab some playful shots just as much as I love photographing you building snowmen during winter snow.

There is an outdoor studio space that offers an immaculate area that makes Mommy & Me photos super special. I love heading to the greenhouse and playing in the sunflowers, the tall grasses, and among the blankets on the laundry line.
