Maternity photos are becoming increasingly popular (as they should!), but many expecting moms struggle with their wardrobe.
Don’t let this be you!
I have a variety of bump friendly dress, trendy options, and items that will make your photos stand out.
Flowy Dress
I love a good flowy dress. Cinched at the top of the bump, and overflowing with goodness on the way down. Having a gown with some movement is my favorite kind of shot. It’s flexible enough for use to play around with and get creative- holding it in different areas, holding it while you’re walking, etc. My favorite kind of flowy dress, though: one with a slit! Show some leg off while we are showing the belly off!
Duster with a Bralette (or not)
Showing your bare belly bump with just something draped over your chest and shoulders always makes for a gorgeous photo. I offer many lace dusters (think of a thin cardigan?) in a variety of colors within my Client Closet. These can simply be paired with jeans, a cute hat and some accessories to make everything come together. To make it a more elegant shot, some moms have opted to just have the duster and no bralette. Maternity photos can be sexy and empowering. Standing tall in your new growing skin is what’s most important.
Tight Dress
More interested in a tight fitting dress rather than flowy? I’m game! Tight fitting dresses are perfect when you want to show up the size of the bump without showing bare skin. It’s a great way to put emphasis on your growing belly in a more modest way.
Casual or Boudoir Maternity Photos
Look- these are your photos. While I can offer what I love, these are your keepsake images. Maybe you’d rather have maternity photos that are more casual of you in a Calvin Klein sports bra and ripped denim sitting on your kitchen counter. I’m here for those shots, too. But maybe…just maybe…you’d rather be in lingerie.
Just Do Them: Maternity Photos
At the end of the day, just do them! Dress them up or dress them down. These images are yours forever, so pick an outfit you love and go with it. The good thing is that you’re doing the session and will have these images to look back on. That’s the important part. End of story.
