Finding the most perfect newborn wardrobe is super important. An important detail to your session is planning your wardrobe, and I’m here to help you every step of the way. Your clothing choices can have a big impact on the final result of your photos, so it’s important to choose wisely. In this post, we’ll go over some tips on what to wear for newborn photos.

1. Keep it simple

The focus of newborn photos should be on your baby, so it’s best to keep your clothing simple and neutral. Avoid bold patterns or bright colors that may distract from your baby. 2. Coordinate with your baby

Another option is to coordinate your outfit with your baby’s. This can create a cohesive and visually pleasing look in your photos. For example, if your baby is wearing a neutral-colored onesie, you could wear a similarly toned outfit.

3. Consider your location

As a Denver newborn photographer, it’s important to think about the location of your photoshoot when choosing your outfit. If you’re taking photos indoors, consider wearing light colored clothing. Wearing dark colored clothing will likely cast on your face making flattering skin tones.  If you’re taking photos outdoors, you’ll want to dress for the weather and choose footwear that’s comfortable for walking.

4. Choose comfortable clothing

Newborn photoshoots can take just a tad longer than normal sessions, so it’s important to choose clothing that’s comfortable and allows you to move easily. Avoid outfits that are too tight or restrictive. Also, keep in mind that you’ll likely be holding and interacting with your baby during the shoot, so choose clothing that allows you to do so comfortably.

5. Accessorize wisely

Accessories can add a nice touch to your session, but don’t overdo it. Simple accessories like a necklace or a scarf can add a bit of interest to your outfit without being too distracting. Avoid large or flashy jewelry that may draw attention away from your baby. If you’re being photographed indoors, I would suggest not wearing a hat. 

Choosing your newborn wardrobe is an important decision. Keep it simple, coordinate with your baby, consider your location, choose comfortable clothing, and accessorize wisely.
