Colorado summer family photos? Yes, please!
Marla messaged with some interest in a Short Story family session with her teenage boys and husband. We went back and forth on a location and finally settled on the perfect white barn for their session. Their session happened in the middle of summer which is such a perfect time to photograph. The grasses are green and lush while trees bring a sweet breeze.
When her family got out of the car, they looked incredible. I remember thinking, “ I want to look like Marla when I grow up!” She is so dang cute and her family follows. Her dress was PERFECT! Now, I understand that teenage boys don’t particularly like doing family photos. They’re in that “My-parents-aren’t-cool-I’d-rather-be-wth-my-friends” stage. I get it. But you could just see Marla’s heart swell when she got a photo with just her and her kiddos. No matter the age, it’s a mommas best dream come true to be snuggled and hugged by her babies. I loved that the boys didn’t care and wrapped their mom up in a big ol’ hug!
Anytime is the Best Time!
People always ask, “When is the best age to photography my kid?” My answer? “Everyday!” There’s no right answer to this. I know many families that don’t do annual photos, that have never printed their sessions, and have nothing on their walls. That doesn’t mean they can’t remember every detail of their child. Some can. I can’t. I am so sad at how few photos I have of my son when he was younger and even more devastated how few videos I have of his sweet little voice. While I do have some, yes, I want more! Anyways, my point is- no matter the age of your kids, get some photos of them. Don’t wait until they’re too old to not care if a camera is in front of them. I hope that this family continues to do some amazing family sessions even as the boys grow older.
