Another year down as a Colorado photographer, and this was one helluva year. I swear, often, that there’s no way 2022 can top 2021.
Colorado photographer in Florida!
Come March, I was headed to Florida for the Inked and Sage Retreat with Naomi Hopkins and Kate Boggs. Guys, this trip was a dream. While I was able to take some stunning photos that I’ll never be able to recreate in Colorado, my most cherished part of this trip was the friends I made.
I mingled with random photographers; strangers, really, in a house for four days and bounced a million pro tips off of each other. We laughed, we drank, and then some of us did it all again in October in Sedona, Arizona.
Boudie-Ful
The year started out with me implementing the boudoir portion of my photography and it took off like something fierce. I had zero clue that there was such a market for that kind of photography, and all I kept telling myself was how I couldn’t believe that I didn’t offer it sooner. Here are just about half of my babes I had this year!
Here comes the bride.
I photographed a gorgeous wedding in Vail with the sweetest couple that was finally able to celebrate when Covid started to settle down. They had an incredible venue, food, and the best dance party of 2021.
In the midst of vacationing, camping, and other large photo sessions, I had numerous senior sessions that blew me away. How are seniors getting better looking every year? And why don’t they have acne and braces like I had?
Summer Sessions
Summer sessions were in full swing, too. We got to go to some great locations- some new, and some old. I had a couple run-ins with park rangers at a location, but no biggie. Only gave me a mild heart attack, haha.
Vail.Enough Said.
I met up with one of my favorite families at the end of summer up in Vail, Colorado. I teamed up with one of my best friends to offer a photo/video combo and it was epic. I’ve never seen such a pretty spot in Colorado. Love this fam!
All about networking!
Marketing and expanding my network was a huge goal of mine this year, and I feel like I was able to make that happen. I photographed an Instagram influencer’s newborn session, died, and went to Heaven. It was such a great day! I’ve been able to work with some great little boutiques in the Denver area, and am trying to work with a couple local doulas for next year. Fingers crossed!
Did someone say Arizona?
A few photographer friends of mine and myself headed to where it’s warm-Arizona! We styled and shot the best families. They were are stunningly gorgeous, fun, down for whatever and made me absolutely love my job.
Fall. Oh boy!
The craziest part of my year was all of the fall family sessions. The amount of families that reached out to me for family photos was actually mind blowing. People found me from all different avenues: Google, Instagram, Facebook, and word of mouth. I still can’t even put words to what a whirlwind of a season that was. I feel like I was swallowed whole during the months of September, October and November.
Christmas Minis
Right around the corner from fall family photos, was Christmas Minis! This was the first year that I planned every single detail of the sessions well in advance. I didn’t procrastinate, flounder, punt or cross my fingers that I would even sell two spots. Every single spot sold out. I knew that this year was going to be a great year for mini sessions, and they were gone faster than I could even keep up with them. All of the families were so good looking, and they went off without a hitch.
What’s next?
So, what’s next? Next year, I plan to meet up with my photographer friends again. We’re thinking the east cost, maybe South Carolina. Other than that, I plan to let God guide me every single step of the way. I know the universe will bring me the clients I’m meant to be with and that’s all I want. And a new car…but, whatever.
Thank you!
From the most cliché spot, the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you times a million over and over again for letting me be your Colorado photographer. Cheers
